باغ ایرانی به‌عنوان یکی از کهن‌ترین نمونه‌های منظر فرهنگی جهان، تجلی ترکیبی از هندسۀ هوشمندانه، مهندسی پیچیدۀ آب، لایه‌های عمیق فرهنگی و سازگاری پیشرفته با اقلیم‌های متنوع ایران است. با وجود ارائه دستورالعمل‌های کلی در اسناد یونسکو، فرایند تدوین پروندۀ ثبت جهانی باغ‌های تاریخی کشور همچنان با چالش‌هایی همچون ناهماهنگی در مستندسازی، ضعف در تحلیل ارزش جهانی برجسته (OUV)، نبود چارچوب مدیریتی منسجم، تفاوت سطح حفاظت در باغ‌ها و تهدیدهای محیطی و شهری مواجه است. این پژوهش با رویکرد کیفی و بر پایه مطالعه اسنادی، تحلیل تطبیقی و تحلیل مضمون، پروندۀ رسمی ثبت جهانی ۹ باغ ایرانی و گزارش ارزیابی ایکوموس در سال 2011 میلادی را بررسی می‌کند تا الگوی مشترک موفقیت این مجموعه و دلایل چالش‌های ثبت آن‌ها را استخراج کند. نتایج نشان می‌دهد که شاکلۀ اصلی موفقیت باغ‌های ایرانی در تبیین چهار محور بنیادین نهفته بوده است: (1) مستندسازی دقیق نظام آب، هندسه و ساختار فضایی، (2) تحلیل و تبیین روشن معیارهای فرهنگی C(i)–C(vi)، (3) بازشناسی رابطۀ باغ با بستر شهری و منظر سرزمینی و (4) ارائۀ برنامۀ مدیریت و حفاظت یکپارچه. بر مبنای این یافته‌ها، پژوهش حاضر یک «مدل بومی و کاربردی» برای تدوین پروندۀ نامزدی ارائه می‌دهد که می‌تواند شکاف موجود میان راهنمای کلی یونسکو و شرایط خاص باغ‌های ایرانی را برطرف سازد. این مدل با استانداردسازی مستندسازی، تقویت استدلال OUV، تلفیق دانش اکولوژیک و تاریخی، و ارائۀ الگوی مدیریتی منسجم، مسیر تهیۀ پرونده‌های جدید ثبت جهانی را کارآمدتر کرده و شانس موفقیت آثار تاریخی ایران را افزایش می‌دهد. پژوهش حاضر با ارائۀ چارچوبی منسجم و مبتنی‌بر تجربۀ واقعی ۹ باغ ایرانی، گامی مؤثر در جهت ارتقای فرآیند حفاظت، مدیریت و ثبت جهانی باغ‌های تاریخی ایران برمی‌دارد.
